FIT3048 Review

Now we finished our one year project on time and successfully. In this semester we had very good team work. Each member did their own works and we often discuss about the project. We worked togerher for one year and fixed the problems together. we all became good friends now. After many years I think I'll still remember our team, our project, Jake,POD and everyone we worked together or helped us. This is a really good experience for my further study and job. Thank you all.  Hope we do good job in our interview and presentation.

Week12 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

We demonstrated the program to our client Andrew. We installed it to his MAC PC and displayed to him how to use this system. At last he tried by himself and looked happy about it. This week we finished all the system what did for whole year.

Week 11 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

This week we still keeping modifying our program. We changed the interface color to what chlient preferred. Ryan is working on the main programming and rest of us are doing the Test Plan and User Documentation which are due next week.

Week 10 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

This week we dont have more works to do. We are waiting for our programmer Ryan to finish the final programming for the project. Also we finished the updated Functional Requirement Specification and Design Specification this week.

Week 9 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

We had a meeting again with our client for some small problems. Like the final version for our program. There is no salutation in the address report and address report should be initialised and surname of the members. Also the report is group by email or home address. As well as if member paid in advance, the paid amount of the next subscription will be 0. So far there is a bug in role, it couldn’t add or update the roles. We need to check the initial again. For the interface about the program, client prefers to change the background colour into pale blue instead of grey. In the “Search” table, if it is null, display the whole date set. Also make search type is blank if input is null. For implementation this freemasonic system, we have to check the conversion to Mac first. If finished, it is the time to have the user acceptance test. The acceptance criteria form has completed by me. And we discussed about the design Spec like which parts are belongs to whom to update. We need to update ER Diagram, DS Diagram, interface and data dictionary. We will finish it before next week.

Week8 (FIT3048 S2)

This week we had a meeting with client. The meeting was still for the program. After the improvement for our programmer there are still some sections need to change. Firstly, for the Payment table-“Arrears” is no longer exists in the system. Meanwhile the Use balance to show the credit/debit account balance which was Ryan mentioned in the meeting. We need to add “Last Paid” field to show the actual date next to the subscription date. Clear the current subscription first, and then deal with the outstanding amount. The calculation for the Subscription is Jan=Jan normal subscription +Grande Lodge (GL). Moreover, we have to add member type in the payment report. And our group think it will easy for emailing merge later if exports a report in excel with salutation, first and last name of the member, rank and balance. For the membership, we just keep flexible changes for the charges/jewels/membership type and so on. In addition, check salutation, ranks, active ranks, roles before delete that particular item. For example, if a member currently holding that, the system should not allow to delete that particular item. And of cause delete conferred rank type if possible. Testing materials will be provided by our client. Our group finished the functional Spec in this week and we planed to complete Design Spec next week.

Week 7 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

This week we got a problem, our programmer found that every item in File Maintenance needs an ID number, to make the entire more flexible when the use edits any of those items, such as rank, role, charge, jewel. If user changes the name of the user’s membership on the File Maintenance form, then the Member Update form conform to that. This cannot work without setting up IDs. So probably we need to change everything on the File Maintenance section. Besides, for the subscription section, we still have much more confusing questions need to ask Andrew. Andrew explained in email very detailed and he said we will resolve these problems without doing much additional works. Our group tries to finish the modification before next meeting with client in week 9. The function specification was already updated by group this week.

Week 6 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

This week our group had a meeting with our client and we demonstrated the program to Andrew. He was satisfied with the program design and for now there are somewhere still needs to modify. Firstly, the payment—we don’t need to have double check button for adding new payment. And also change subscription to subscription amount outstanding. The report is a very confusing part for us. We always have some problems in this part. Therefore, for report—payment report need to display Jan/Jul subscription’s actual payment and should be included member type and the amount supposes to pay in the payment report; Total payment should be added in the payment report; Beak members’ owing for the subscription amount; Create a new report for members’ charges; Charges report should includes degrees, charges name, members’ identification; Search function for charges report. For the charges, we need to remove members’ charges if the charges re on longer exist. Moreover user cannot delete a jewel, if any member having the jewel. In addition, we still need to have maintenance for Salutation and the active rank. The next meeting will be hold after mid-semester break. Our group will keep doing the programming and documentation for this project.

Week5 Reflection (FIT3048 S2)

So far, our group mainly finished the programming part for the project. We will have a meeting with Andrew (Client) next week. This is week on studio, each group talked about their project scheduled time. We planned to finish in next week. Then we tried to run in Gary ’s lap-top but there was a connection problem and we couldn’t make it run smoothly. Anyway we worked it out at last. We will begin to update the Function specification and Test plan to make sure complete this project soon.

Week 4 Reflection

This week we didnt do much for our project. We just wait for the project mainly finished by Ryan. I designed the main menu for our project- Andrew (our client) preferred to have a main menu screen after user log into the system to make the ease of use.  We will have a meeting with Andrew in week 5 to show him how is the project going.  For the most of time, I', busy to study the SDI, the diagrams are very complex, the diagrams in studio 3 spent me much time. Anyway I worked them out. our group will discuss it then.
